The girls basketball team huddles during their scrimmage on Monday. The girls look to lean on younger players this season.

Head Coach: Jeff Jasper (51st season)

Last year’s record: 19-9

Key Returners: Jenna Lomanto (Sr.), Ava Burke (Jr.), Celina Bussanich (Jr.), Shoshana Weiss (Jr.),

Key Losses: Tori Criscuolo, Julia Graham, Lindsay Jennings, Madison McCarthy

Key Newcomers:  Maddie Gibbs (Jr.), Ava Scott (Jr.), Ava Anastasi (So.), Mia Boretti (So.), Sophia Dalton (So.), Riley Hirsch (So.), Alex Kesselman (So.), Emma Costello (Fr.), Raina Gibbs (Fr.)

Strength: “I think the hardest thing for this group is to learn how to play without the basketball,” Jasper said. “ I think the point that makes them special is that they play hard. They’re very energized and very unselfish, so they’ll learn how to make those connections.”

Outlook on the season:We are a young team with not a lot of experience, so we have to improve and work together,” Jasper stated.

Coach’s Comment: “Celina, who is a force, [is] so competitive and such a hard worker,” Jasper said. “She sets a great example for the younger players. She’s just magic.”
