You may have heard of the “dirty soda” craze that has taken over the internet. But what exactly is “dirty soda”?
Dirty soda is a soda base mixed with different flavored syrups and an optional splash of different kinds of cream. It originated in Utah in the 2010s and is a customizable drink almost like what you would get at a coffee chain. They were originally popularized by the Mormon community, who are not allowed by their religion to drink caffeinated or alcoholic drinks.
Dirty soda is known across the country because of the current trending dirty soda shops, and the versatility that comes with customizing your own soda.
Crumbl, the well-known cookie chain based in Utah that spans the United States and Canada, introduced its dirty soda line in Canada in July 2025. The soda didn’t hit the US until August, and it is also only served at exclusive locations.
At the end of April 2026, the Crumbl in Montvale, New Jersey, introduced dirty sodas to its existing storefront, allowing for an exciting new treat in the community. We went to test out some of the new sodas to give you a good feel of what we would and would not recommend. Each of the sizes (12 oz, 24 oz, 32oz) has a base price; however, each of the additions adds an extra fee. The price starts from $2.49 for a 12 oz.
The first drink we got was the Dirty Coconut Lime, which is a Dr. Pepper base mixed with coconut cream and topped with a fresh lime wedge.
This drink tastes like it sounds. The coconut cream paired perfectly with the flavor of the Dr. Pepper, and the lime provided a little bit of a sour kick to the overall taste. This was by far the best drink we tried, and we would recommend this one the most.

The second drink we got was the Whisk Me Away. This is a Diet Coke with cranberry syrup inclusions and a lime wedge.
We thought that there was nothing too special about this drink. The cranberry flavor was very subtle, and it just tasted like a typical Diet Coke. We came to the conclusion that we would not order this again.
Maddy’s rating: 5/10
Arin’s rating: 5/10
The third drink we decided to try was the Sunshine Sipper. It has a Sprite base with mango syrup, strawberry purée, coconut cream, and a fresh lemon wedge.
This drink was deliciously fruity and refreshing, although it wasn’t our favorite. The chunks of strawberry purée at the bottom were nice, but didn’t really blend well with the rest of the drink.
Maddy’s rating: 7/10
Arin’s rating: 6/10
The last drink that we tried was the Shark Bite, which is Coke with pineapple syrup and coconut cream. The pineapple flavoring with the coconut cream clashed for some reason and created an unpleasant aftertaste. This was our lowest rating overall, and we definitely would not recommend trying it.
Maddy’s rating: 3/10
Arin’s rating: 2/10
If you are looking for a cool and refreshing treat this summer, we would definitely recommend going to try Crumbl’s dirty sodas. If none of our recommendations stick out to you, you can try making your own signature soda using Crumbl’s “create your own tool”. Happy sipping!
