Located in Wayne, New Jersey, The Saucy Cup is an up-and-coming cafe that opened in November 2025. This cafe promotes its halal and partially gluten-free menu. It’s popular for its sweet coffee, matcha, and variety of fun flavors.
The lines were very long, as has been the case since its rise in popularity, and it took over 45 minutes to place and then receive our order; although the owner played live music and handed out complimentary pastries, which made the wait feel much quicker. After visiting the shop and trying over six menu items, I crafted an honest review of the cafe.
Biscotto Latte – $6.50
The Biscotto Latte is inspired by Biscoff cookies. It has one of the prettiest presentations with cold foam on top and Biscoff syrup drizzled on the side. Flavor-wise, it tasted the best due to its unique caramel flavor and mild sweetness. Rather than being overbearingly sugary, the cookie flavor brought out just enough sweetness while still being able to taste the coffee. Additionally, the cold foam added creaminess and depth to the drink, which some of the others didn’t have. 8.5/10

Tiramisu Latte $6.50
The Tiramisu Latte is inspired by tiramisu cake. It’s very pretty, with vanilla cold foam on top and chocolate drizzle on the side. However, this drink is an acquired taste, since it’s very chocolaty and the coffee flavor isn’t very strong. There’s not much of a tiramisu flavor, which is disappointing, and the chocolate syrup in the coffee is too overpowering. The cold foam tasted good, but after being mixed in with the overly sweet drink, it didn’t really add anything to the overall flavor. This was the worst drink out of the four, but for chocolate and sugar lovers, this is a good option. 6/10
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte – $6.50
The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte is inspired by the popular cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Based on reviews, this is their most popular coffee. Out of the four drinks, this one looks the most boring since there is no drizzle on the side, although it does have cold foam and cinnamon powder sprinkled on top. Taste-wise, this drink was very sweet and, just like the tiramisu latte, the sweetness overpowered the coffee flavor. However, the cinnamon flavor blends very well with the drink and is much more enjoyable than the tiramisu latte. It’s understandable why this is the most popular latte, and many sweet coffee lovers would really enjoy this. 6.5/10
Strawberry Shortcake Matcha – $6.75
The Saucy Cup offers generic strawberry matcha and its seasonal menu item, Strawberry Shortcake Matcha. The difference is that the Strawberry Shortcake Matcha has strawberry cold foam on top and strawberry drizzle on the side. This drink looked very pretty, but that’s about it. The matcha flavor was very dull and didn’t taste authentic. Although since the cafe is known for its coffee, it’s not too surprising that their matcha wasn’t great. Additionally, this drink wasn’t very sweet since they didn’t add nearly enough strawberry syrup. Compared to the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte and the Tiramisu Latte, this one had the opposite problem and needed more strawberry syrup to balance out the earthiness of the matcha. This drink wasn’t very good, and if there had been more strawberry flavor, it would have been more enjoyable. 5/10
Rise and Shine Wrap – $12.50
The Rise and Shine Wrap is a popular breakfast item for many customers. It was very busy, and the wraps took by far the longest to be served, so maybe they were rushed, but nevertheless, they weren’t that good. The wrap wasn’t very warm, and the hashbrowns in it felt soggy and undercooked. The cheese also tasted unmelted and didn’t blend well with the wrap. Additionally, the chipotle sauce that came with it tasted flavorless and didn’t have much spice. This wrap wasn’t very good, and there’s much better at other places. 4/10

Nutella Croissant
The owner handed the Nutella Croissant out for customers to try while they were waiting to order. It’s not officially on the menu, but she said she was in the process of perfecting and adding it. It’s a croissant filled with Nutella as well as a Nutella drizzle and chocolate chips sprinkled on top. The croissant was light, airy, and flaky, which was very nice, and it paired very well with the Nutella flavor. The croissants were small and bite-sized, but that might just be because they were complimentary. It was very delicious, and it was the best item of the six. 9/10
Due to the cafe’s long distance from Hillsdale and River Vale, about 25 minutes away, the drive isn’t worth the quality of the drinks. However, the lattes were very unique, and the menu is constantly changing based on the season, which can be very fun for regular customers to try new drinks. It’s understandable why this cafe is so popular, especially for younger people, since the drinks are so sweet and visually appealing. New Jersey doesn’t really have another cafe like this, so if you wanted something similar, you’d have to travel to the city. Overall, visiting the cafe was a pleasant experience.
